The Richland County Board of Elections still needs poll workers to work the polls during the Nov. 3 General Election, as well as the March 15, 2016 Presidential Primary and the Nov. 8, 2016 Presidential General Election.

We have scheduled an additional class to train new workers on Oct. 16 at the Longview Center, 1495 West Longview Avenue in the upper level classroom. This class will last from 1:30 p.m. until approximately 4 p.m., and the compensation for this training session is $25, which is included on the check received after the election for working the polls.

New workers additionally need to attend a regular poll worker station training session, which gives more of an individual one-on-one instruction on specific procedures involved with processing the voters. Workers will be compensated an additional $20.

The compensation for working the polls on election day is $165 for presiding judges, $140 for presiding assistants and $130 for regular workers.

Checks will be mailed out approximately one week after the election, with no taxes or other deductions. For more information, or to sign up for the classes, please contact the Board of Elections at 419.774.5530.
