On Monday, Oct. 26 Bellville and Lexington will be holding four public meetings to explain the two villages’ gas and electric aggregation billing issue on November’s ballot.

Marc Hollinger of Aspen Energy will discuss the advantages to individual citizens, potential costs savings and explain how the program works.

Bellville council listened to a brief presentation from Marc Hollinger during a previous meeting regarding the company’s electric aggregation rates.

Village-wide aggregation combines individual households into a single buying group in order to increase utility rate stability. Aspen is offering Bellville an opt-out aggregation program, which means residents would not be required to do anything to be part of the program.

Scheduled meetings will be held at the following locations:

2:30 p.m. St. Paul Lutheran Church (social room) in Bellville

4 p.m. Lexington Senior/Civic Center (Depot) in Lexington

6 p.m. St. Paul Lutheran Church (social room) in Bellville

7 p.m. Lexington Senior/Civic Center (Depot) in Lexington

Mayor Parkison of Lexington and Mayor Banks of Bellville agreed that combing the utility consumers of both villages should increase the buying power of both villages and should help secure lower rates in both utilities (gas and electric).

Both mayors encourage all citizens to attend one of these public meetings.

An agreement between the villages and Aspen following the ballot issue’s passage would automatically enter Bellville and Lexington residents into the aggregation program; however, villagers would be given the choice to opt-out of the program upon implementation.

Call Brenda Wilson of Lexington at 419-884-0765 ext. 8 for questions.
