Organizers of the 2015 CROP Walk, held in downtown Mansfield, report that 131 walkers from 17 churches raised $14,434.91 to help stop hunger in our community and around the world.
The annual event is sponsored by the Mansfield Inter-Church Council.
The coveted Golden Tenny award goes to FirstEnglishLutheranChurch for raising $2,294.00. Southside Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will receive the Silver Tenny award for raising $1,662.00. The Bronze Tenny award will be presented to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for raising $1,610.37.
One-fourth of the money raised or $3,608.73 will benefit the following: First Christian Church Community Breakfasts, Grace Episcopal food pantry, Mosaic food pantry, NECIC and Community Gardens and St. Luke’s Point of Grace Saturday evening meals.
The remaining money will be channeled through Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations providing self-help and development, disaster relief and refugee assistance in the United States and 80 countries.
