Bellville Police Department recognized for adopting new standards

BELLVILLE — The Bellville Police Department has adopted state standards established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board, officials in Columbus said.

The standards, developed in 2015, are part of the state’s efforts to strengthen community and police relations.

More than 500 agencies employing over 27,000 officers are either certified or are in the process of becoming certified, collaborative officials said.

These standards govern the use of force, including deadly force, and agency recruitmenet and hiring.
