BELLVILLE — The Avita Health System will be building a one-story medical facility in the area it is using off I-71 where it intersects with State Route 97.

The group received final plan approval from the Bellville Planning Commission at a meeting this week.

The drawing of the new building, which will house three medical offices, shows the floor layout, entrances and exits and other details of the building.

The final plan was submitted to the Planning Commission by Dan Seckel, of The Seckel Group, an architectural firm in Mansfield.

Final plan approval was also given to the Speedway station, which is going to be putting in diesel fueling lanes at the back of their structure on State Route 97.

Their plan shows a canopy, which will cover the fueling lanes, said Bellville administrator Larry Weirich.

The Avita building will be situated across State Route 97 from the Wendy’s food service facility.

The building will occupy two lots which abut the state route, Weirich said.

Another construction project is in the works by Love’s Real Estate. That group is preparing land where its service station, with food businesses, will be located. Love’s Real Estate is building its facility behind the Wendy’s.

Approval of the Avita project by the planning commission means site preparation can begin, as long as engineers with the village and the construction groups agree on the way to proceed.

The firm representing Avita also included a storm water management plan with its submission to the Planning Commission.

Kim Winkle, vice president of Corporate Relations and Operational Support at Avita, said a family physician along with specialists will probably go into the new building. It is probable that specialists will rotate so that patients can have access to various specialty programs, Winkle said. Avita is also considering a walk-in clinic in the building, she said.

The area around I-71 and State Route 97 is becoming rapidly developed, which means traffic concerns in that area have increased.

Village council members have been discussing what they should do to be sure safety concerns are addressed in that area. The village is responsible for providing police protection for that area, because it was annexed into the village in the 1990s.
