Be aware; scammers posing as working for sheriff’s office are demanding money


MANSFIELD — The Richland Sheriff’s Office has received reports from area residents that people representing themselves as members of the Richland County Sheriff’s Office are demanding monies for fines, warrants, subpoenas, etc.

This is a scam.

This is not a practice of the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. Residents of Richland County and others throughout the United States in multiple jurisdictions have experience similar scams.

If you should have any questions about any business with the sheriff’s office, it can always be handled in person at the office, 567 Park Ave. East in Mansfield, or by calling 419-524-2412.

Do not give credit card or bank information for payment to anyone representing themselves from the sheriff’s office. This is not the way the Richland County Sheriff’s Office operates.
