BELLVILLE — For the second season in a row, Clear Fork High School’s baseball team has advanced to the regional tournament.
With a 9-2 win over Margaretta on Saturday at Shelby High School, Clear Fork’s boys basketball team has advanced to Ohio’s Sweet 16 in Division III.
Thus far in the tournament, Clear Fork, at 16-11, has beaten Bucyrus 3-0, Edison 10-1 and Margaretta.
Next up for the Colts is a showdown, at Elida, in the regional semifinals vs. Ottawa-Glandorf.
That game is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ed Sandy Field in Elida.
The winner of that game plays at 5 p.m. Friday for a chance to advance to the state Division III final four at Huntington Park in Columbus next weekend.
In the tournament so far, Ottawa-Glandorf beat Allen East 10-0, Spencerville 2-0 and No. 2 seed Coldwater 4-1. Ottawa-Glandorf was the No. 1 seed in the Elida district.
Clear Fork jumped on top of Margaretta early Saturday. They led 2-0 in the second inning and 7-0 by the fourth before Margaretta made it a little closer. But the Colts were never really threatened vs. the Polar Bears.
Gage Belcher picked up the pitching win for the Colts.
