Led by seniors Dakotah McClain, Luke Watson, Decon Shortridge and Jake Helinski, the 2015 Clear Fork Boys Golf team is the most decorated in the history of the school.

The team captured victories in four different tournaments. They started their run with a win at the Galion Invitational, followed by the Hillsdale Invitational, then the Tyger Tournamnet and finally the City Tournament held at Twin Lakes Golf Course.

The four seniors on the squad, along with sophomore Jared Lind and freshman Brock Detmer, set a school record scoring a 298 at Twin Lakes. The team made it through the sectional round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association post-season tournament at Sawmill Creek to advance onto the district finals tournament at Red Hawk Golf Course in Findlay.

McClain spent the year playing as the team’s 1-man, Shortridge and Watson alternated between the team’s 2 and 3 spot, while Helinski played as the 4-man in the majority of matches. Out of 37 schools in the Div. II Northwest District that had 222 golfers, Watson made 1st-team honors and McClain was given 2nd-team honors. Shortridge was awarded Honorable Mention.

The potential of the team was something to be reckoned with. Their accomplishments on the course will leave a lasting legacy that Clear Fork can be proud of.
