Downtown Bellville’s newest business, Designs by the Chick N’ Coop

Designs by the Chick N’ Coop is the newest member to the collection of downtown Bellville businesses, opening its doors for the first time in its new location today.

The craft, furniture and consignment store has been offering customers its wide variety of homemade and up-cycled goods since December of last year. Originally located in Lexington, Chicken Coop owner Amanda Cooper found her new home in Bellville.

“This spot came open and I just had to take it,” Cooper said. “Bellville has done a phenomenal job building a sense of community and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Cooper a native of Madison, has been in the furniture business for six years but recently decided to take on a her own venture.

“It was now or never,” she said. “And it’s great to feel like you’re doing what you are supposed to be doing in life.”

Cooper offers a wealth of homemade goods that include her custom farm tables and other specialty furniture.

In addition to home decor, Designs by The Chick N’ Coop sells a host of homemade specialty foods like candy dipped pretzels.

“We are bringing in some more food options,” said Cooper. “We also are going to be selling handmade quilts here soon.”

The owner will also be offering a basic acrylic canvas painting on July 10 at 6 p.m. Limited seating available so text 419.961.4359 to reserve your spot.

Designs by the Chick N’ Coop is located at 74 Main Street and is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
