First Baptist Church of Bellville strengthens church, surrounding community

The First Baptist Church of Bellville serves its members and the community-at-large

The First Baptist Church of Bellville was founded in 1958 by Pastor John J. Denney in hopes to provide a Southern Baptist Church to the surrounding area.

Currently, the church is led by pastor Bill Henderson of Bellville who has preached at the church since arriving with his wife in 2010. Henderson states that the church strives to faithfully present the gospel and support mission work at home and around the globe.

“Today the Bellville First Baptist Church continues as a Southern Baptist Church and is committed to the good news of Jesus Christ,” said Henderson. “The ministries of the church have extended beyond Bellville to serve the Clear Fork area as well as Knox, Richland and Ashland counties. Their goals are to build up God’s people on the truth of God’s Word, being a blessing to all in our community, and participating in mission work worldwide.”

The church is funding several missionary projects in Romania, which includes construction of church buildings and ministries.

“A church camp for children in Romania is currently being planned. A mission trip is scheduled for September,” said Henderson.

Along with the church’s work abroad, First Baptist aims at growing their church community.

“In recent years the church has experienced new growth and a new spirit of compassion for one another,” said Henderson. “Members facing a variety of difficulties have described the support, encouragement and love they experience.”

Bellville First Baptist hosts their annual Vacation Bible School from July 13 to 17. The camp runs from 6 to 8 p.m. It is open to children ages three through fifth grade.

The church also holds monthly community suppers the last Wednesday of each month. They run from 4 to 6 p.m. and are open to the public. All of their ministries and services are free.

Henderson also states that anyone wishing to discover more about Jesus Christ or to worship him are invited to be a guest at Sunday services. They begin at 10 a.m. with Bible study and continue onto regular worship services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

First Baptist Church of Bellville is located at 4534 State Route 13 North.
