CLEAR FORK VALLEY — A number of events have been scheduled for August at the Gorman Nature Center.
A “Birds and breakfast bird walk” walk will be Aug. 12 starting at 7:30 a.m. at the center.
On Aug. 18 there will be an “Owl Prowl” where people can find out about local owls, starting at 9 .m. People wanting to attend this event should dress for the weather and bring a flashlight.
People are invited to participate in a “Perseid Meteor Shower” event Aug. 12 and 13. People should call 419-884-3764 t0 find out details.
The Perseid meteor shower is described as one of the brightest to occur in the Northern Hemisphere. This will be a night of astronomy and star gazing. Best viewing times for the meteor shower will be early morning. People should bring sleeping bags and plan to spend the entire evening. A breakfast with apple cider doughnuts from Apple Hill Orchard will be provided.
The colors and shapes of the 3,000 species of moths will be explored in an event Aug. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Black lights, UV and vapor lamps will be used during the event. People are urged to bring a camera and a lawn chair. People may call the center for more information.

A summer nature walk for seniors will be Aug. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the center.
