‘Healthy Soil’ exhibit coming to Richand County Fair

There is something for everyone at the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District’s (Richland SWCD) “Healthy Soil” exhibit at this year’s Richland County Fair, August 9 to 15.

See how rainfall impacts soil and water health by watching live demonstrations of “The Rainfall Simulator.” Take the fun, 12-question soil health quiz to be entered into drawings for prizes donated by Meijer.Prizes include packages for bird lovers, avid fishermen, Outdoor gamers, garden caretakers and grilling gurus. The “Healthy Soil” exhibit is located in the Nature Park at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Learn how to achieve healthy soil, why healthy soil is important and about soil testing. Stop by the exhibit and visit with Richland SWCD and USDA-NRCS personnel and volunteers Monday through Friday, August 10 to 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Natural resource and conservation programs will take place on the Nature Park stage Monday through Friday, with musical performances Sunday through Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Nature Park continues to be restored under the guidance of Bill and Tonya Flanegan and Howard Harriman with assistance from Richland County Master Gardeners. While at the Nature Park, stroll through the native gardens or relax on a bench under a shady tree. The Nature Park is an oasis of natural beauty!
