‘Living History’ makes historical society return

Staff report

The Bellville Historical Society will feature a ‘Living History’ presentation of the world’s richest man, Andrew Carnegie at its Monday, August 17 meeting at the museum starting at 7 p.m. Kenneth Hammontree of Ashland will present a program highlighting the magnate’s life.

Several years ago Hammontree was in Bellville as General Eisenhower. Ken has been been adding a new historical

character every few years since his first portrayal of Johnny Appleseed. Next to Appleseed Ken’s favorite

characters are George Washington, General Eisenhower and General Patton. Among other portrayals are Daniel

Boone, Tecumseh, Moses and Oskar Schlindler.

Ken is also a publisher author. His first book “There Was A Time” is a historical novel centering on Jennie Wade, the only civilian killed in the battle of Gettysburg. During his Bellville appearance as General Eisenhower Ken treated everyone attending a complimentary copy of his book. The event is open to the public.
