LUCAS — Richland Public Health’s “Winter Hike for Health” will be at two hiking trail locations on February 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The winter wonderland hikes will be held at Malabar Farm State Park, 4050 Bromfield Roadm Lucas, and Gorman Nature Center, 2295 Lexington Ave., Mansfield. Hikes are self-guided and everyone in the family can participate. Trails are marked, but adults must accompany children. Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash.
Hiking is promoted as a healthy form of exercise in Ohio state parks and other scenic and natural outdoor locations. Hikers are encouraged to dress warmly and wear sturdy hiking boots, as the trail conditions may be somewhat snowy and icy.
The only reason the hikes would be cancelled is if the roads are closed due to weather conditions on the day of the hike. Listen to local media for weather reports.
The starting point will be at the Visitor’s Center for both locations. There will be maps of the walking trails as well as complimentary water bottles and healthy snacks. This is a free event at both locations.
