CLEAR FORK VALLEY — Community health screenings for May have been announced by the Richland County Health Department.
These include free blood pressure, hemoglobin, and hematocrit screenings as well as a weight check and blood sugar screening. The blood sugar screening requires a three hour fast.
Cholesterol screenings are also available for a $10 charge (cash or check only). This test requires a nine to 12 hour fast.
There will be a screening in Butler May 2 at the nutrition center, 20 Henry Street, from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
The other local screening location is Friendly House at Hidden Hollow, 5127 Possum Run Road, Bellville. This screening will be from 10 a.m. to noon May 9.

Clinics are partly funded by local tax dollars.
Neighborhood immunizations are also available.
Infants, children and adults can get the shots they need at clinics staffed by public health nurses from Richland Public Health. Children must be accompanied by an adult/guardian and need an up-to-date shot record and insurance card at time of service. Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care, Anthem and Medical Mutual cards are accepted. No child is denied vaccines due to inability to pay (donations are accepted). Cost of most children’s vaccines is $28 and then $15 for each additional dose. Pricing for adult vaccine varies.
One session will be held May 2 at the Bellville/Jefferson Township Fire Station, 270 Main Street (State Route 13 south). This session will be from 10 a.m. to noon.
