BELLVILLE — The Farmers’ Market, where people can find everything from greens to bonsai trees, is opening in the Van Ross Wade market on Main Street Saturday.
Market hours are 9 a.m. until noon.
Jeff Wilkinson, market vendor and manager, said the first few weeks of the market usually is limited in terms of vendor numbers. But this weekend’s market will have his products — a variety of mushrooms and some lettuces — plus offerings of bakers, a maple syrup vendor and other jarred goods.
Wilkinson, who also has bonsai trees, said he has a green house. But planting for people who don’t have such a helpful addition to their farms has made spring and warmer weather slow.
Wilkinson said vendor numbers increase by mid-June. Vendors include a young man who sells wooden items he has created. His sets up his stand as “A turn for the better.” His offerings included items like wooden rolling pins and trivets.
