Vigil for Dre Jones set for June 24

CLEAR FORK VALLEY — There will be a prayer vigil for Dre Jones June 24 at the Silver Lining Group, starting at 4 p.m.

On June 24 of 2017 Deondre (Dre) Jones got up from the breakfast table and collapsed. Emergency workers were called and Dre coded five times. He was paralyzed from his neck down on his left side within 24 hours. Within 48 hours he was paralyzed from the neck down on both sides.

He was transported to Riverside Hospital in Columbus. During a 30-day stay there he was diagnosed with a rare virus called transverse mylettis. Doctors say this is a modern day polio.

He was moved to a rehabilitation hospital for 45 days, and there, coded two times. He is now in a long term nursing facility in Ashland (Good Samaritan) where they have a state of the art ventilator unit.

Some of the inflammation in his spine has gone down, doctors say. But this has left damage, which is slowing him down.

Because he is autistic and non verbal, losing use of his hands to communicate through an iPad has been a challenge.

The group sponsoring the vigil is asking for prayers for hope and healing. At the vigil donations will be accepted.

People with questions may call Debbie at 419-589-8762.

Silver Lining Group is located at 1033 Larchwood in Mansfield.
