Bellville Police Reports


Aug. 20, 2018

State Route 97 — On this date and time while patrolling, Officer was passed by a vehicle with an extremely loud exhaust. Officer turned around and caught up with the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Officer approached driver and occupants of the vehicle and immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officer requested identification from driver, occupants and they complied. Dispatch confirmed identification and Officer again spoke with driver and occupants, questioning the odor of the marijuana. Passenger stated that it was probably theirs, from earlier in the day. At this time, Officer requested all occupants exit the vehicle, conducted a pat down for Officer safety, on all occupants and a vehicle search was completed. Citations were issued for drugs, drug paraphernalia and a verbal warning was given for the loud exhaust.

Aug. 21, 2018

Loves Truck Stop — Officer was dispatched to the listed location referencing a possible overdose. Officer arrived and located the vehicle with the driver slumped over the wheel. After several attempts, the Officer was able to wake the driver, who then quickly opened the vehicle door. The driver was identified, EMS arrived to check their vitals, the driver did refuse transport at this time. Officer conducted field sobriety testing which the driver was unable to successfully complete. A tow was called for the vehicle, tow / inventory form completed and the driver was placed under arrest and transported to jail.

Aug. 22, 2018

Bellville — On this date and time, Officer assisted the Richland County Sheriff’s Office with a search for subject with an active warrant. Subject was contacted at listed location by both Officers, was compliant and was transported to jail by Bellville officers.

Village View Apartments — Bellville Police Department was contacted by phone, caller stating a family member’s bicycle had been stolen. Officer contacted caller, took report of the make, color and style of bicycle and a report was completed.

Aug. 23, 2018

Loves Truck Stop — On the listed date and time, Officer was dispatched to the listed location for a possible theft. Upon arrival, Officer contacted the the person making the report, who stated that the loss prevention department had evidence of a retail theft in the store. This case is under investigation.

Aug. 24, 2018

Bellville — Subject on station reporting an alleged assault made on a juvenile family member. Officer requested information, a report was taken and this case is under investigation.

Aug. 25, 2018

Loves Truck Stop — Officer dispatched to the listed location in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, Officer made contact with the reportee, who stated subject had taken items without paying. The person attempted to speak with subject, with no result. Several witnesses gave statements, a report was taken.

Aug. 26, 2018

Bellville — Subject on station requesting a report be taken for physical threats made to them by an ex-family member. Subject stated that the person made physical harm threats to them over the phone. Subject completed a witness statement and a report was completed.

Washington Township — Officer dispatched to listed business in reference to a subject allegedly committing a sex crime in front of juveniles. Upon arrival, Officer made contact with the person, requested all of their information, spoke with them and placed the subject in the patrol vehicle for questioning. Officer contacted the caller and took statements from all parties present. Subject was released from cruiser, this case is ongoing.

Markey Street — On the listed date and time, Officer was dispatched to listed location for a stolen property report. Upon arrival, Officer made contact with the caller and victim, who stated that a bicycle had been taken from the garage. The caller stated that it did not appear any other items had been taken. Officer took all information and cleared scene.
