BELLVILLE – A service honoring big and little friends who help us all was held at an area church last Sunday at Palm Park.
Members of All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, accompanied by eight or nine pets, let people expound on the strength and nurturing they get from their friends.
Jacqueline Moore spoke on “The great koan, your dog.”
She said this is the time of year people say thanks to “cats and dogs, birds and chickens, turtles and fish and so much more!”
Her talk, she said, was an acknowledgement “that our lives are made fuller and richer by the creatures that inhabit the Earth with us, not just those that live with us.”
“As we express gratitude and celebrate the joy our beloved pets and all animals bring to our lives, may we also contemplate the boundless Dharma gate of Mu,” she said.
