VFW starts scholarship competition

Commander William Walker of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9943 and its Ladies Auxiliary in Mansfield announce the kick-off of this year’s “Voice of Democracy” scholarship competition.

High school students in grades 9-12, as well as home schooled students, have the opportunity to compete in the annual essay competition for the chance to win thousands of dollars, a trip to Washington D.C. and other prizes.

Students who wish to participate can begin the contest process by competing at their local VFW Post. From there contestants can advance to district and then to state levels.

A three to five minute audio essay expressing thier views oth the year’s theme “My Vision for America” can win monetary awards on each level of the competition.
