Blust Avenue Teaching Garden set to open, inform residents

The North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC) would like to invite area residents and interested community members to attend the Blust Avenue Teaching Garden Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will feature a tour of the garden, an overview of fall gardening and hoop house growing, as well as an announcement of upcoming classes and volunteer opportunities at the garden.

The goals of the Blust Avenue Teaching Garden are to teach people of all ages to grow their own food, increase fresh food access within the local fresh food desert, to beautify vacant lots, and to connect area residents.

The event is free and open to the public. The garden is located at 417 Blust Ave., Mansfield. Parking is available adjacent to the garden, just past Blust Avenue.
