“Superman” to be featured at Knox library

The classic film “Superman” (PG) will be featured at the Silver Screeners Movie Matinee on Sunday, July 12, 1:30 p.m. at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street.

With all the Marvel action movies and technically advanced remakes of action classics pumping up current box office sales, it is important to remember that none of this would have been possible if not for that day in 1978 when Superman flew into movie theaters and a new genre took off.

Join us and host Steve Moore for a closer look at the 1978 Richard Donner movie masterpiece, starring Christopher Reeves, that revolutionized today’s onscreen superheroes.

The program is free and open to the public of all ages. Refreshments served. Participants are encouraged to sign up for the Escape the Ordinary Adult Summer Reading Program to be eligible for weekly and monthly prizes.
