The annual Liberty Fest took place last Saturday in conjunction with the Independence Day Holiday.

“We gather today to say happy birthday to our country,” said Bellville Mayor Darrell Banks in a speech to attendees. “It is proper to celebrate the birth of this great nation, to take pride in all that the United States has accomplished on this continent and around the world. We do not boast that we have been perfect, but America has contributed to making a much better world.”

The ceremony began with a village parade in which several area organizations were awarded in one of six different categories by the Sons of the American Legion Post 535 in Bellville.
