Designs by the Chick N’ Coop is the newest member to the collection of downtown Bellville businesses, opening its doors for the first time in its new location.
The craft, furniture and consignment store has been offering customers a wide variety of homemade and up-cycled goods since December of last year.
Originally located in Lexington, Chick N’ Coop owner Amanda Cooper just recently found her business’ new home in Bellville.
Cooper a native of Madison, had been in the furniture business for six years when she decided to take on the task of running her own venture. She opened Chick N’Coop in downtown Lexington but has since settled on Bellville as an ideal location.
“This spot came open and I just had to take it,” Cooper said. “Bellville has done a phenomenal job building a sense of community and I wanted to be a part of it. It was now or never. And it’s great to feel like you’re doing what you are supposed to be doing in life.”
Cooper offers to customers a wealth of homemade goods that include her custom farm tables and other specialty furniture.
In addition to home decor, Designs by The Chick N’ Coop sells a selection of homemade specialty foods like candy dipped pretzels.
“We are bringing in some more food options for people to stop in and get a quick snack,” said Cooper.
When asked of her plans for Designs by the Chick N’ Coop, Cooper set modest goals stating she prefers to take sales one day at a time and steadily expand her inventory.
She plans to begin selling handmade quilts at her storefront in the near future.
Along with her in-store goods, Cooper is offering a basic acrylic canvas painting on July 10 at 6 p.m. Limited seating available so text 419.961.4359 to reserve your spot.
