Area attractions, events listed in new Ohio tourism guide

CLEAR FORK VALLEY — A new travel guide put out by a State of Ohio agency lists numerous events which occur in this area, including the Bellville Street Fair Sept. 13 through 16.

TourismOhio is distributing the Official Ohio Travel Guide and a Spring/Summer Ohio Calendar of Events.

All county fairs in the state are listed, and “independent” fairs like Bellville’s and Loudonville’s are itemized in a different place.

The print version of the guide lists events in the state by geographic areas. The area where Bellville, Butler, Mansfield and Loudonville are located is the northeast section.

The Richland B & O bike trail is mentioned, as is a Shawshank Hustle 7k run. This event starts at the Ohio Reformatory in Mansfield and weaves participants through five places where scenes from the movie were filmed. The Shawshank Hustle is June 17. Use of the bike trail is year round.

Events in the print version are listed by month.

Charles Mill Lake is mentioned as a place where kids five through 14 can take hikes, search for wildlife and do other events at an “outdoor nature camp” June 20 through 22. Information about that event is available at the website

A Mohican Wildlife Weekend will be April 28 through 30 at Mohican State Park. There will also be a Mohican Wildlife Weekend event at Wolf Creek Grist Mill outside Loudonville April 29.
