Prather to retire

Elizabeth “Liz” Prather, Bellville, superintendent of the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities, is retiring at the end of 2017.

She has worked for the group for the past 37 years. She was chosen to lead Richland Newhope in 2007.

The board is looking for a replacement for Prather. The goal is to have a successor on board by Jan. 1, 2018.

Kramer to speak at All Souls

Leslie Kramer will be the speaker Sunday at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church at 10:30 a.m.

Her topic will be “Maybe, just maybe, the Rolling Stones had it right.”

Kramer is from Medina, and said she is of Hungarian/gypsy/Christian background.

Outdoor worship at Malabar

The Pleasant Valley and St. Paul Lutheran churches of Lucas will host the 24th annual outdoor worship service atop Malabar Farm’s Mt. Jeez Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m.

A shuttle will take people attending from the parking lot at the working arm starting at 8:30 a.m. People are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets.

The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. David Aune. In the event of rain the service will be held in the sanctuary of the Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, 2769 Pleasant Valley Road.
