Clear Fork crowns two MOAC wrestling champions


GALION — Clear Fork crowned two Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference champions at Saturday’s league meet in Galion.

For the Colts, freshman Colton Campbell was the champion at 106 pounds. In the championship match, he defeated Pleasant’s Jon Polley 9-6.

At 170 pounds, senior John Witschi racked up another tournament title. He is bringing home the 170-pound championship hardware after a 9-3 decision over Ontario’s Colling Crown in the title match.

River Valley won the team title. Clear fork was fifth as a team.

The team standings were: 1. River Valley 258.5; 2. Pleasant 190.5; 3. Ontario 166; 4. North Union 138; 5. Clear Fork 136; 6. Galion 123.5; 7. Marion Harding 119; 8. Buckeye Valley 101.

The Colts had several placers during the match.

Freshman Isaiah Thomas finished fourth at 113 pounds; Freshman Chase Wortman was sixth at 120 pounds; Junior Trey Black was fourth at 126 pounds; Freshman Brady Au was sixth at 138 pounds; Senior Garrett Crowner was was third at 145 pounds; Sophomore Blake Miller was fourth at 195 pounds; Freshman Kyle Kline was sixth at 285 pounds.
