Girls soccer: Clear Fork defeats West Holmes, falls to Granville

Granville emerged victorious in a battle between two of Ohio’s top 10 Div. II girls soccer programs on Saturday. The Blue Aces, ranked No. 5 in the latest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll, shut out No. 9 Clear Fork, 6-0, at the Granville Soccer Facility.

Granville (4-1-1) jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead thanks to a pair of goals by goals by Nikki Cox and solo tallies by Rose Sawyers and Elia Taiganides. Sawyers added another goal in the second half and Journy Link scored the final goal for the Blue Aces.

Colts goalkeeper Kaylee Krausman recorded 10 saves and faced 16 total shots.

Granville keeper Tori Long turned away all three shots she faced.

The loss snapped the Colts’ four-match winning streak.

In the junior varsity match, Clear Fork blanked the Blue Aces, 3-0.

Clear Fork (5-2-0, 2-0-0 Ohio Cardinal Conference) resumes Ohio Cardinal Conference play on Thursday when Mansfield Senior visits the Colt Corral. Kickoff is at 6:45 p.m.

Clear Fork shut out West Holmes, 4-0, in Ohio Cardinal Conference girls soccer action on Thursday in Millersburg.

After a scoreless first half, Jordyne Helinski netted a pair of goals and Haley Brown and MacKenzie Wade each added a solo tally for Clear Fork in the second half. Helisnki and Meshia Curry each had an assist. The Colts finished with 14 shots on goal and seven corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Kaylee Krausman recorded three saves to earn the win for the Colts.

Knights netminder Savannah Rogers was called upon to make 10 saves.

Clear Fork won the junior varsity match, 4-0.
