Tom Nichols is 80 years old and is a perfect reason that people love golf.
He had major cancer surgery a few years ago and all he wants to talk about when he is on the course is that he is just glad and happy to be out there enjoying himself.
It’s amazing that at his age he’s even out there, much less given the fact that he is in recovery from what he has been through. He’s not a very big man but has a very big heart and a lot of drive to get out there and do what he does. He lives outside of Loudonville and makes it up here to Belleville to play Little Apple every Wednesday night.
Extremely dependable and is always there early waiting to play his round and have a good time at it. Rob Kamenoff and I had the pleasure of playing with these two guys this week and it was a beautiful evening that turned out to get nicer and nicer as the clouds went away and it turned into bright blue sky. One of the best Golf evenings of the year so far.
He kept telling me he’s just glad to be here and I can totally appreciate that. Tom Nichols is a man to be admired. I’ve always said that one of the many reasons to play golf is to meet people and hear their story . What a great story it is and hopefully everything will work out well for him. he will be hearing from his doctor again in another month to see how things are going and I’m sure we all wish him the best of luck. Until next week hope all goes well.
