The Lexington Minutemen boys basketball team advanced to the district finals against Sandusky with a 58-46 win over Madison Wednesday night in Galion.
Lexington opened the game with a 19-7 first quarter lead. Nine of those points came from their big man, Jonah Yaussy in the first quarter.
The Minutemen took a 28-21 lead into the locker room at halftime and came out to a strong third quarter. After three quarters of play they increased their lead to 44-31 and never looked back.
Madison was snake bitten outside the three-point line, shooting 0 for 19 on the game.
Lexington had a strong performance against the Rams shooting 50 percent from beyond the three-point arc and the game’s high scorer was Joey Zahn with 18 points and 4 assists. Zahn was tough to defend, as nine of those points came from downtown.
The Minutemen will play 2 p.m. Saturday against Sandusky at Galion High School for the district championship.
